Prince, Mary [and Susanna Strickland (Moodie)]
The History of Mary Prince. A West Indian Slave Narrative.
Seller ID: 1015
Mineola: Dover, 2004. Reprinted from the 1831 edition published at London under the auspices of Thomas Pringle, a prominent British abolitionist (69 pp.). Octavo, stiff wraps, pictorial cover. Although the publisher is silent on the matter, this oral history was recorded and probably lightly edited by the well-known Canadian writer Susanna Strickland (later, Moodie) described in Pringle’s preface as ‘a lady who happened to be at the time residing with my family’ (Ballstadt, Canadian Notes and Queries, November 1971). As new.
