Octavo (21 cm) in full black morocco, exquisitely ornamented, t.e.g. The outbreak of the Kaffir War of 1834- 35 and the “utter ruin of 7000 people and the loss to them of over a quarter of a million of money, not including the losses of tradesmen and missionaries in Kaffraria.” Causes of the Kaffir War, British jurisdiction, Stockenstrom’s border policy, emigration of large parties of colonists, claims of the colony at Albany, etc. (Mendelssohn, Notes on London edition, 178). In its bespoke binding as fine a copy as is to be found, with the stamp of ‘Africana Antiquarians’ of Port Elizabeth. As new.
