Small octavo (19 cm) in green publisher’s cloth, gilt titles and decoration; eight photographic illustrations (e.g., a fern colony, hardwood forest); two folding county maps, road map of Toronto and environs (in rear pocket); coloured map of Toronto and vicinity, life zones (bound in). Articles on local geology, mosses and liverworts, birds, former inhabitants, fishes, slime molds, etc. The Canadian Institute was founded in 1849 by Sandford Fleming, among others, as a centre for scientific and technical studies. Our copy bears the seal of the Institute central on the cover. Coloured map with some repairs, hinges a bit tender but holding firm. An uncommon title. Very Good
