Octavo (22 cm) in polished calf, gilt title in compartment on spine. Three folding engraved plates showing queen, worker, and drone; physiology; comb with cells; wasp nests. In three books— a summary of the account of the natural history of bees found in de Reaumur and Meraldi; the propagation and husbandry of bees, the design of hives, the seasonal maintenance of the hives; and the natural history of wasps together with simples methods of destroying them. At the conclusion of the Preface Wildman makes his subscribers this interesting offer: Mr. Wildman will shew the practical part to any number of subscribers, that may not be fully satisfied, not less than twenty, in any place they shall please to appoint, not exceeding three miles from London. And if any of the subscribers do not chuse to manage their bees themselves, he will undertake it for the yearly sum of Three Guineas. Front hinge leather has worn through (sewing holding firm), top and bottom of spine chipped, tips worn; internally clean and bright; plates a trifle misfolded but otherwise equally clean. A Very Good clean copy.
