"Rough-Legged Falcon" (Plate 422) from Audubon's Birds of America, Abbeville Edition, 1985. Matted and framed to gallery standard; double elephant folio (as the Havell original), approximately 25.5" x 39.5", with bespoke frame 30" x 42". The "Roughed-Legged Falcon" is from an unbound copy of the complete Abbeville facsimile edition of Audubon's Birds of America. The Rough-Legged Falcon likely is now called the "Rough-Legged Hawk" (Buteo lagopus), dark phase; it is typically an arctic hawk, ranging in Winter into southern Canada and south in the Appalachians to North Carolina (Peterson).
