Seller ID: 1740 London: Whittaker, 1841. First edition (pp. 295, 16, Index) with fourteen full page hand-coloured colour lithograph plates showing twenty-two varieties of flowers. Octavo (22 cm) in half leather over marbled boards, gilt titles and decorations to spine, decorative half title. Hinges worn but holding firm, edges worn, lightly toned in places. Introduction to many new ornamental plants and flowers (dahlias such as Conqueror of the World, Burnham Hero, and Rival Revenge) together with commentaries from the editor and other knowledgeable plants people ("On the Culture of Daphne Odora" and "Remarks on the Division of Roses").
