Large quarto (29 cm) in full calf, gilt titles and decorations to spine; red sprinkled edges; illustrated with nine engraved plates including tomb of Nicholas Carew and his wife in Beddington Church, view of Nonsuch-Palace from a 16th century print by Hoefnagle, views of Kew Palace and Campden house, painted glass in window of Wimbleton church (in colour), plan of Hyde Park as it was in 1725, statue of John Viscount Mordaunt (showing quite a lot of leg), bas-relief from the monument of George Stevens, and a plan showing the Ordnance-ground at Woolwich. Additional information is supplied for perhaps ninety communities. Save for one misfolded plate, plates are generally clean and bright, as is the text. Hinges and backstrip repaired, edges and corners worn. A very good copy.
