Quarto (23.5cm), pictorial soft covers, several hundred b&w photo illustrations of sophisticated ornaments and furniture offered by a pre-eminent retailer of garden ornaments-- statuary, fountains, sundials, benches, armillaries, planters, and bird baths (and, yes, they would sell you a nicely painted black jockey hitching post). Some of the better designs the work of Paul Manship (1885- 1966), prominent American sculptor and creator of Rockefeller Center's Prometheus fountain (for a lengthy sketch of whose career see www.p-synd.com/manship); also designs by Rachel Hawks, Ruth Yates, Ruth Dean, Edw. Berge, Philip Luther Robinson, Edward McCartan, and Wheeler Williams. So not just a collection of goofy garden gnomes. Price List Number 56A laid in. Lower right corner of covered turned. Fine.
