Seller ID: 715 Boston: Hilliard, Gray, and Co., 1834. First edition (vii, 555 pp., appendix 73 pp., index). Many engraved b&w illustrations cut into text. In original decorative blue cloth, rubbed, spotted, and sun-faded, retaining paper title on spine; joints repaired; text toned and foxed in places as usual. Binding is firm and secure. In the Preface, Nuttall pays handsome tribute to his 'eminent friend Mr. Audubon' and regrets that 'the whole manuscript had not been placed under his revision.' A very good copy of a hard to find classic of American ornithology. Price: $400.00
