Quarto (30 cm) in original paper-covered boards, gilt titles to front cover and spine; sympathetically rebacked with new corners and endpapers. Three hundred-fifty b&w photo illustrations, two to four on a page, showing details of gateways, doors and doorways from the sixteenth century onward as found in various German, Austrian, and Swiss locales. Mild damp stain to from cover, a few scratches and discoloured patch on rear. Internally clean and bright-- an especially well-photographed portfolio of architectural details.
