London: Heinemann, 1912. Four volumes. Vol 1: Tudor to Stuart; Vol 2: Queen Anne; Vol 3: Chippendale and His School; Vol 4: The Sheraton Period. Small octavo (about 16cm x 12cm), in brown cloth with black lettering, each cover with a gilt-framed paste-on illustrative of a chair of the period. Each volume with a colour frontis and an array of up to 100 b&w photographs illustrating the text, indexes and bibliographies. Bright and tight, with wear at top and bottom of spines, a spot or two. An interesting provenance-- from the library and with the signatures of Norah E. Mitchener, wife of Roland Michener, MP, Governor General of Canada (1967- 74).
